Congrats to UBC Medicine’s Dr. Thibault Mayor and his team on receiving a Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) CREATE grant to launch a new interdisciplinary, team-based graduate training program in mass spectrometry.
Dr. Thibault Mayor and a team of collaborators, including Drs. Leonard Foster and David Ng, are launching a new interdisciplinary graduate training program in mass spectrometry that also focuses on teamwork and helping students develop essential professional skills. This includes skills like collaboration, leadership, communication and adaptability. The program will also prioritize #EDI and will facilitate community outreach activities. “Overall, this program will help better prepare our students for careers in biotechnology, academia and the public sector,” says Dr. Mayor. This program is supported by $1.65 million in funding from the NSERC CREATE program, as well as supports from universities, research institutes, and hospitals across BC. This funding was announced this week as part of over $1.3 billion being invested in research projects across Canada. Learn more about this new training program at: https://lnkd.in/g2mV-4NN Also announced as part of this large research investment were the results of the 2025 NSERC Discovery Grant competition. Three MSL faculty members, Drs. Jörg Gsponer, Xin Li and Xin Tang received individual grants this year to support new, creative and innovative research projects.
