It’s another milestone for the Richmond Hospital Redevelopment Project! 🏗🎉 The UBC Faculty of Medicine Medical Education Centre has now been successfully relocated as part of the ongoing redevelopment work at Richmond Hospital. The UBC Faculty of Medicine provides innovative educational and research programs across the province through an integrated delivery model, including clinical academic campuses like Richmond Hospital. This new purpose-built hub, situated next to the Milan Ilich Pavilion, features two seminar rooms and a clinical skills training room with an observation area. The relocation was a crucial step in preparing for the construction of the Yurkovich Family Pavilion, a nine-floor acute care tower. Check out the pictures to see more of the new space. Vancouver General Hospital's Intensive Care Unit has been honored as the sole Canadian recipient of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses Beacon Silver Award for Excellence. 🏅 “It’s a privilege to be the only Canadian ICU to be recognized, but it also speaks to the incredible talent and dedication of the people on our team,” says ICU Manager Jackson Lam. In their submission, VGH ICU highlighted patient-centered care, healthy work environment, and staff support. Over the last year VGH ICU has focused on effective engagement of new and existing staff. This includes increasing the frequency of check-ins between leaders and experienced staff nurses to focus on professional development and staff retention, promoting involvement in quarterly staff meetings, tailoring educational opportunities for experienced staff, and strengthening and expanding the team-based quality improvement team.
