GRANT OBJECTIVEThe objective of the CASP-CAAIF-KalVista Research Grant in Hereditary Angioedema (HAE) is to fund a research focused on Hereditary Angioedema which can include Types 1, 2, and C1 Normal.
VALUE OF THE AWARD
The maximum value of the award is $50,000.
DURATION
The Research Grant is for one year, non-renewable.

Requirements
ELIGIBILITY- The award must be held at a Canadian university or research institute defined as an eligible institution by CIHR and the Principal Investigator must hold an academic position at the institution.
- Projects must fall within CAAIF's mission.
- Preference will be given to investigators who have not received this award within the past two years.
- Investigator-initiated studies of commercial pharmaceutical products eligible for industry sponsorship will not be considered except under special circumstances, and at the discretion of the CAAIF Research Advisory Committee.
Applications will be screened by CAAIF for eligibility and completeness prior to adjudication. Applications deemed not sufficiently relevant will be removed from the competition. All relevant applications will undergo peer-review evaluation which includes expert reviewers and knowledge users. Evaluations will be based on:
- Specific impact and relevance of the project to the understanding of the mechanisms and management of Hereditary Angioedema
- Scientific strengths of the proposed methodology
- Demonstrated ability of applicant/collaborators to realistically achieve proposed project objectives
- Appropriateness of budget and timeline for the work proposed
- Awardees must acknowledge the assistance given by CASP, CAAIF and KalVista in any publication or presentation made during or resulting from the tenure of the Award.
- Applicants may request a one-year no-cost extension. Any unspent funds must be returned to the Partnered Groups immediately on the last day of the requested extension.
- A final report, which will be shared with funding partners, must be submitted to CAAIF no later than six (6) month after completion/termination.
- Awardees are strongly encouraged to participate in various requests from the partnered organizations including but not limited to: peer-review, interviews, webinars, virtual appearances and other communications.
- These grants do not provide for personal salary support of the Principal Investigator (PI) or Co-applicants, nor for institutional and administrative overhead costs.
