Attention to all Hallyu fans in Canada!
Hosted by the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Vancouver and in partnership with the Department of Asian Studies at UBC, Quiz on Korea is an annual gameshow that quizzes non-Korean adults on their knowledge of Korean culture, social news, history, etc.
Countries around the world will hold preliminary rounds in which one winner is chosen to move to the final round in Korea. The finalists will appear on a special television segment broadcast by the national public broadcaster, KBS. Flights to Korea and accommodations will be provided to each finalist – so don’t miss out on this incredible chance to win a free trip to Korea!

Entry Eligibility
– Applicants should be 18 years of age or older (as of May 6, 2023)
– Applicants should hold legal status in Canada or Canadian citizenship***
***Please note: All applicants are eligible to win the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes (Apple products), however only those with a Canadian passport are eligible for the grand prize of travel to Korea and moving forward to the final round. Everybody will receive a participation prize (Korean goods).
– Applicant cannot hold and should have never held Korean nationality or ethnicity (or have any immediate family members holding Korean nationality or ethnicity)
– Should be able to participate in the preliminary round in-person at UBC (on May 6, 2023)
– The Grand Prize winner must hold Canadian citizenship and should be available for travel to Korea for the final round of the competition which will take place in early September 2023.
– Applicant should have genuine interest in and knowledge of Korea and Korean culture.
– Individuals who have previously participated in the Quiz on Korea Final Round held in Korea are not eligible to apply again.

– Grand prize (1): A free trip to Korea for the final round.
– 1st place (1): Apple iPad Air
– 2nd place (2): Apple Watch
– 3rd place (3): Apple AirPods
– Participation prizes: Korean goods

Evaluation
All applications will be screened and only qualified applicants will receive an email invitation with full event details to participate in the 2023 Quiz on Korea-Canada Preliminary Round by Thursday, May 4, 2023.
KBS 2023 Quiz on Korea Final Round in Korea
Date: Saturday September 10, 2023
A week-long tour program (9/03-9/11) in Korea will be provided for all final round contestants.
All final round contestants must participate with their legal name and will be filmed and broadcasted during their Korea tour and final round.
The tour and the final round will be conducted in Korean only. No translation will be provided.
