A Vancouver racetrack is coming in the next wave of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe courses.

Some familiar landmarks will be in the background of a new course coming to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

Vancouver Velocity is one of the new courses in the next wave of racetracks for the Wii U and Nintendo Switch game; previously Vancouver Velocity was part of the Mario Kart Tour app on Apple and Android phones.

The course includes the Lions Gate Bridge, the Olympic Torch, Canada Place, the Harbour Centre Tower, the downtown library, and the North Shore Mountains (well, mountains, they're not an exact replica of the local peaks) as landmarks. There's also an arena that could be Rogers Arena and a wooden bridge that could be the Capilano Suspension Bridge.

Vancouver is the first Canadian city to join Mario Kart 8 and the 12th overall. Other cities already with Mario Kart racetracks include Paris, New York, and Tokyo.

The Vancouver course is part of the Cherry Cup, one of the two new cups that are part of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe's fifth wave; throughout 2022 and 2023 waves of courses have been released as downloadable content to Nintendo Switch Online.

Wave 5 will be released on July 12. Along with the Vancouver course, there'll be a whole new course based in a bathroom, along with courses based on Los Angeles and Athens.
