Welcome to the Digital Payments Program (DPP) Information Site

Here you will find the latest updates and information about the project underway to replace the current digital payment system used across UBC (ePayment/CBM) with the new payment system (TouchNet). TouchNet was successfully deployed December 2022 with the first round of UBC merchants and it is expected that all current ePayment/CBM users will be migrated over by Fall 2023.

If you are thinking of setting up an online store to accept digital payments of any kind at UBC, please download and fill out the NEW STORE INTAKE FORM and then forward to dpp.support@ubc.ca to get started. Do note that from form submission, to development, testing, and launch it can take 2-3 weeks or more. The sooner you reach out the better.

If you already have an online store that uses ePayment but have yet to connect with the Digital Payments team in order to migrate to TouchNet please connect with us ASAP.

LATEST NEWS

DPP Celebrates 200 Stores Migrated

The Digital Payments Program (DPP) is proud to announce the successful migration of 200 stores from ePayment to TouchNet, representing 88% of total stores.

Additionally, during this same time, the DPP have onboarded 33 net new stores to TouchNet. The 233 stores have successfully processed over 50,000 transactions totaling almost $12 million through TouchNet to date.

David Rapchuk, DPP Manager, on the significance of achieving this important milestone, “To reach 88% completion on our migration work while simultaneously onboarding 33 new stores is no small feat and we couldn’t have done it without our talented DPP team and our patient and cooperative merchants and IT partners”.

DPP Cost Recovery Fee To Commence November 1, 2023

The Digital Payments Program (DPP) was established with the premise that the costs associated with implementing and maintaining the Program would be recovered through a nominal 30 basis points ($0.003) fee per dollar transacted through TouchNet, UBC’s new digital payment solution.

DPP Sponsors have determined that this recovery will now commence starting November 1, 2023.

UBC merchants using TouchNet will begin seeing this fee charged against their Ledger Account 6390, with the Spend Category as Administrative Overhead (SC0059).

Credit Card Transaction Fees To Recommence October 16, 2023

Transaction fees are charged by financial institutions anytime a purchase is made using an approved credit card. At UBC, these fees are charged by Global Payments for processing and settling payments made using TouchNet, UBC’s new digital payment solution.

This is a flow-through cost that is traditionally allocated back to UBC merchants as part of the cost of doing business.

Allocation was completed for December and January FY2023 but paused when the DPP team identified an error in the transaction fee source report in Global Payments. This error has since been resolved and therefore the transaction fees will once again resume starting October 16, 2023, and applied retroactively to all transactions since the pause began in February 2023.
