Call for Submissions: University of Toronto East Asian Studies Union Undergraduate Journal

The East Asian Studies Student Union at the University of Toronto is launching OnEast, an undergraduate humanities academic journal dedicated to East Asian studies. Undergraduate students with an interest in East Asian Studies (focusing on China, Korea, Japan, and adjacent countries) are invited to submit and publish their research, including but not limited to essays, translations, poetry, and photographs. Deadline for submissions is June 25.

Call for Abstract Proposals: Mothers Between Cultures

Former Asian Studies graduate and current Associate Professor at Otemon Gakuin University, Dr. Elisabeth Williams is seeking contributors to an edited volume exploring the experiences, identities, and needs of women with non-Japanese roots specifically within the context of Japanese maternity care. The volume will draw on women's own voices and lived experiences, to examine how maternity care in Japan can become more culturally responsive, compassionate, and respectful of women's autonomy and diverse needs. Call for Applications: UBC Wellbeing Strategic Initiative Fund

Faculty, staff, and students (with a faculty/staff sponsor) at UBC are invited to apply for up to $5,000 in funding through the UBC Wellbeing Strategic Initiative Fund. The fund supports innovative, community-informed approaches to advancing wellbeing across our campuses as part of UBC’s commitment to the Okanagan Charter and the Wellbeing Strategic Framework. Deadline for applications is July 6.

Apply to Join the UBC Delegation at COP31

The 31st United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP31) summit is taking place in Antalya, Türkiye, from November 9-20, 2026. Students, faculty and staff who are studying and/or working full-time at UBC for the duration of winter term (2026/27) can apply for a chance to receive an observer badge to COP31 to witness official negotiations online or in-person and participate in global networking spaces and side events. Apply by July 8.

Apply for the 2026 Partnership Recognition and Exploration Fund

The Community Engagement Partnership Recognition and Exploration Fund provides up to $1,500 to support collaborative initiatives between community organizations and UBC faculty, staff, and students. The fund helps fill small resource gaps that enable reciprocal, community-engaged projects such as research, experiential learning, workshops, educational programming, and policy development. Deadline for applications is December 31 or until available funds are exhausted.
