The Faculty of Medicine has launched an internal selection process to nominate two faculty members for the 2025 UBC Killam Accelerator Research Fellowship (KARF) competition. These annual fellowships are intended to support exceptional early- career researchers across all disciplines who have the potential for significant impact in their field of scholarship and are ready to launch the next stage of their career.

Reminder: New Government of Canada security-related requirements for certain SSHRC grant applications 
SSHRC and Public Safety Canada recently released updated requirement regarding submissions for certain SSHRC grants (see below). The update is an expansion of the National Security Guidelines for Research Partnerships. Under the updated requirements, applicants who are working with private sector partners must complete risk assessments of their partners/projects and submit them as part of their complete grant application. 

The risk assessment forms must be submitted to research.security@ubc.ca prior to grant submission, at least 3 business days prior to the ORS or internal faculty submission deadline. 

Affected grants: 

  • SSHRC Partnership Grants (Stage 2); effective for Oct. 29, 2025 deadline
  • SSHRC Partnership Development Grants; effective for Nov. 17, 2025 deadline
  • SSHRC Partnership Engage Grants; effective for March 2026 deadline
