Wellness Wednesday: Addressing mental health concerns for adults 55 and over through conversations with care providers

Join us for an engaging presentation on older adult mental health with Dr. Nelly Oelke! She will share her work on fostering mental health conversations among older adults, healthcare providers, and care partners. Her work has led to the development of a toolkit, now entering the testing phase across provinces. Dr. Oelke's presentation will highlight the Mental Health Continuum for Aging Adults, the toolkit, and approaches to starting conversations on mental health.

These circuit-based classes are designed for individuals living with a neurological condition, as the exercises are adaptable and can be modified to best suit each participant’s ability. The BC Brain Wellness Program is participating in the ParticipACTION Community Challenge, a national sport and physical activity initiative that encourages everyone in Canada to get active for the month of June. Dialogue on Aging: Dr. Michael Yellow Bird

Intercontinental Alliance for Integrated Care Project
The Intercontinental Alliance for Integrated Care is a global initiative launched by Singapore University of Social Sciences to address healthcare challenges, particularly those related to aging populations and chronic diseases. In this project, the UBC IDEA lab will collaborate with global researchers from Singapore, Thailand, China, Hong Kong, Britain, Brunei, and Canada to examine ageing perceptions cross-nationally. The purpose of this research is to better understand how older adults define and experience aging and aging well. If you are aged 55+, the lab wants to hear from you!
