2026 Capstone Lecture with Dr. Don Baker: A Tale of Three Brothers
The Capstone Lectures at the Department of Asian Studies recognize the retirement from teaching of professors of the Department. They are an occasion to hear from faculty members—who have, in many cases, taught and researched for decades at UBC—explaining questions that have inspired their career-defining studies.
This year's lecture – to be held on January 30 – features our Professor in Korean History and Civilization, Dr. Don Baker. Hear how three brothers made their mark on Korean history and how their lives offer insight into life in Korea during the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
