SSHRC Impact Awards 2024 

These awards recognize outstanding researchers and celebrate their research achievements, research training, knowledge mobilization and outreach activities funded partially or entirely by SSHRC. UBC is limited to one nominee per award category (Gold Medal, Insight, Connection and Partnership) so the VPRI will coordinate an internal selection process. Self-nominations are not permitted. Killam Teaching Prizes 2024

UBC Killam Teaching Prizes are UBC’s most prestigious teaching awards. The UBC Killam Teaching Prizes recognize excellence in teaching in the medical and science undergraduate programs, residency programs, school and graduate programs within the Faculty of Medicine. President's Award for Distinguished Service by UBC Emeriti 

The UBC Emeritus College presents one or more President's Award for Distinguished Service annually to UBC Emeriti who have, since attaining UBC Emeritus status, displayed exceptional leadership in volunteer community services. 

These services may benefit others in Canada or abroad. In addition to the recognition of the Award, recipients will receive $1,000. It is anticipated that the recipient(s) will direct the fund to an organization, charity, or fund of their choosing. Any person may nominate candidates for the Award to the Emeritus College through an online nominations form. | Deadline: February 20, 2024.

UBC Emeritus College Award for Excellence in Innovative and Creative Endeavours 

The UBC Emeritus College presents one or more Awards for Excellence in Innovative and Creative Endeavours annually to UBC Emeriti who have demonstrated excellence in their engagement in innovative research, artistic creation, or new applications of previous research since attaining Emeritus status.

Faculty of Medicine National Research Prizes 2024

The UBC Faculty of Medicine awards three national prizes to experts who demonstrate research excellence and innovation in the areas of cancer, brain disorders, and heart disorders. The prizes, each with a value of $50,000, are awarded to experts who demonstrate research excellence and innovation in the areas of cancer, brain disorders, and heart disorders. | Deadline: February 28, 2024

King Faisal Prize in Medicine 2024

The King Faisal Prize (KFP) recognizes the outstanding works of individuals and institutions in five major categories: Service to Islam, Islamic Studies, Arabic Language and Literature, Medicine, and Science. Its aim is to benefit Muslims in their present and future, inspire them to participate in all aspects of civilization, as well as enrich human knowledge and develop mankind. KFP laureates are evaluated only based on merit and their works are meticulously examined by specialized selection committees. The strict selection procedure meets international standards, and many of the laureates who have been awarded the prize went on to receive other prestigious prizes, such as the Nobel Prize. | FoM internal nomination deadline: March 15, 2024

Faculty of Medicine Summer Student Research Program 
The Faculty of Medicine Summer Student Research Program (FoM SSRP) is a competition open to MD (Years 1 & 3 in 2021) and non-MD undergraduate students registered at UBC. It provides funding for a summer research project supervised by a member of the Faculty of Medicine (FoM). Funding of up to $3200 is provided in the form of a student stipend; supervisors are responsible for all other expenses. Applications are submitted by student-supervisor teams. To be eligible, supervisors must have a current faculty appointment (instructor or higher, including clinical) in the FoM at UBC. This includes affiliate FoM appointments.

2023-24 Killam Graduate Teaching Assistant Awards 
In recognition of the valuable role that Graduate Teaching Assistants play in our programs, UBC annually awards nineteen Killam Graduate Teaching Assistant Awards. Each award includes a Certificate and $1,000.00. These awards are intended to recognize teaching excellence within our institution and to underscore the importance and value that UBC places on high-quality teaching.
