Meet Drs. Catrina Loucks and Colin Ross

Drs. Catrina Loucks (left) and Colin Ross (right), are recipients of the UBC Faculty of Medicine 2021/2022 Precision Health Catalyst Grant award for their project titled “Uncovering patient-specific genetic factors that can be used to optimize morphine-based pain relief while avoiding harm”.

This project aims to answer the question: Why are some children unable to get pain relief from morphine while others experience excessive sedation or toxicity?

We are busy planning an upcoming meeting and networking opportunity in the new year to discuss how foundational researchers can connect with clinicians in their precision health and translational medicine research. This meeting is jointly hosted between Precision Health, the Life Sciences Institute, and the Academy of Translational Medicine.
