2023 FoM Multidisciplinary Research Program in Medicine (MRPM) NEW
The Faculty of Medicine is excited to announce that the Multidisciplinary Research Program in Medicine (FoM MRPM) is relaunching for Summer 2023. The aim of this program is to facilitate and fund interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research at UBC. Project applications require two faculty supervisors: one from the FoM and the other a non-FoM UBC faculty member. Applications should be submitted in research pairs and supervisors should search for a partner capable of providing specific research expertise. Finding a research partner is the responsibility of the supervisor. Students and supervisors apply separately. Supervisors will be provided a list of eligible students following project approval. Supervisors will receive up to three students, two non-MD undergraduate students (in their second year or higher) for 16-weeks ($8,400 student stipend) and one optional first-year MD student for 8-weeks ($3,200 student stipend). Supervisors are required to pay at least $2,400 per non-MD student contingent on eligible student awards.
The deadline to apply for project funding is January 19th, 2023. Student applications will open in February.
Science Meets Parliament
The Canadian Science Policy Centre (CSPC) and the Office of the Chief Science Advisor (OCSA) are accepting applications for participation in the third round of Science Meets Parliament. This event will take place in Ottawa in spring 2023.
The objective of this initiative is to strengthen connections between Canada’s scientific and political communities, enable a two-way dialogue, and participate in policy development initiatives. Science Meets Parliament aims to help scientists become familiar with policy making at the political level, and for parliamentarians to explore using scientific evidence in policy making.
This program is open to Tier II Canada Research Chairs, Indigenous faculty members, and Banting Postdoctoral Fellows. The deadline to apply for this program is November 30th, 2022. To apply, click here.
A virtual information session will be held for eligible candidates on October 26th, from 12:00-1:00 pm ET. For more information, click here.
UBC will be sponsoring Science Meets Parliament and providing travel support of up to $1,000 to successful candidates through the Office of the Vice-President, Research and Innovation.
