Call for Nominations

Royal Society of Canada Medals and Awards

The Royal Society of Canada is offering nine (9) distinct Medals and Awards this year in multiple domains, including the social sciences, humanities, natural sciences, medical sciences, and interdisciplinary research. Nominations can be made by existing Royal Society members or via institutional nomination. They no longer require co-nominators, but do require 3 external letters. We encourage nominators and those interested to contact the Office of Research Prizes and Awards for nomination support, including consultation, package review, and/or coordinating institutional nomination. | Deadline: Mar 31

NSERC Arthur B. MacDonald Fellowships

VPRI is seeking self-nominations to the NSERC Arthur B. McDonald Fellowships, which recognize early-stage academic researchers in the natural sciences and engineering (first 10 years of academic appointment and holding an NSERC grant) and support them to enhance their research capacity, so that they can become leaders in their field and inspire others.

NSERC awards up to six McDonald Fellowships each year, each of which provides a $250,000 research grant over 2 years and up to $90,000 to the institution to fund teaching and administrative relief. UBC is limited to six nominations, so VPRI will coordinate an internal selection process. (Note: We expect NSERC to formally launch the competition in March with a deadline of June 7/2023.)

Deadline for Expression of Intent (optional): March 14
Deadline for Online Selection form (required): April 3
