V Foundation for Cancer Research: Women Scientists Innovation Award for Cancer Research NEW

Targeted to female candidates only, this award enables the nominee to apply for one of two grant programs, V Scholar or Translational grant. The V Scholar, open to junior faculty only, is valued at $600,000 over 3 years, while the Translation grant, open to all researchers, is valued at $800,000 over 4 years. Self nominations for the internal competition are permitted, but nominations can be submitted to V Foundation for Cancer Research by invitation only. | FoM Internal Nomination deadline: Feb 3

Description: Dr. Tyrrell is a visionary clinician-scientist, creative virologist, entrepreneur and academic leader. His multi-faceted career in academic medicine, virology, pharmaceutical enterprise, and dedicated advocacy for health research in Canada were recognized with the 2021 Henry G. Friesen International Prize in Health Research.

Faculty of Medicine Summer Student Research Program

The Faculty of Medicine Summer Student Research Program (FoM SSRP) is a competition open to MD (Years 1 & 3 in 2021) and non-MD undergraduate students registered at UBC. It provides funding for a summer research project supervised by a member of the Faculty of Medicine (FoM). Funding of up to $3200 is provided in the form of a student stipend; supervisors are responsible for all other expenses. Applications are submitted by student-supervisor teams. To be eligible, supervisors must have a current faculty appointment (instructor or higher, including clinical) in the FoM at UBC. This includes affiliate FoM appointments.
