Empowering Language Learners: a feature on the work of Dr. Nesrine Basheer
Arabic is used by over 400 million people in the world. It is a diglossic language, which means that two variations of the language constantly co-exist. To address this challenge, Dr. Nesrine Basheer leverages technology in her course to celebrate spoken Arabic, help her native students reconnect to their mother tongue, and document immigrants’ stories in the process.

The Hong Kong Studies Minor is now available!
The Department of Asian Studies is pleased to share that the option to pursue a minor in Asian Language and Culture with a focus on Hong Kong is now available! This minor focuses on Hong Kong-related courses ranging from music, literature, cinema, and history to Cantonese language.
