Staying safe in the summer weather 

As the temperatures rise, learn how to identify signs and symptoms, the risks related to heat-related illnesses and how to protect yourself by completing the Heat Stress Awareness course. It is important to recognize the signs and symptoms early on so that more serious heat disorders can be prevented.

Reminder: Line painting on July 23 

Starting July 18, Facilities will be preparing for line painting at University Services Building (USB) and Lower Mall Header House. Please note the following schedule for vehicle parking and line painting: 

  • July 18 (Tue): All vehicles (no exceptions) parked at USB and Header House to park at B4 parking lot on Agronomy Road or West Parkade by end of day.  
  • July 19-24 (Wed-Mon): All vehicles, trucks, etc. to park at B4 Lot and West Parkade. 
  • July 19-21 (Wed-Fri): Streets & Operations Support will do parking lot clean up. Exceptions will be made for deliveries, picking up tools,  materials and mail trucks. 
  • July 22 (Sat): Parking lot dry day. 
  • July 23 (Sun): Line Painting. 
  • July 24 (Mon): Paint dry day. 
  • July 25 (Tue): All vehicles back to USB and Header House.

  • A big thank you to Tony Boyce and his team in Building Operations for the quick response and repair of the broken tarp roller at the UBC Tennis Centre. Their problem-solving enabled the tarps to be collected on schedule and ensured the Tennis Centre could resume operations on time.

EDI: UBC launches training course on Indigenous understanding for faculty and staff 

Weaving Relations, a new online training course, is now available to faculty and staff. This course explores Indigenous histories, people and contexts, through the lens of Indigenous-Canadian relationships.

Weekly Emergency Tip: Avoid Disaster Response Routes in an emergency

Avoid Disaster Response Routes if they are activated during a disaster. They are designated for use by emergency personnel during an emergency or disaster situation such as an earthquake.
