SPOTLIGHT STORy: CANADA EXCELLENCE RESEARCH CHAIRS Call for NOMINATION
As a reminder, the 2026 Canada Excellence Research Chairs (CERC) competition has launched, and the Faculty of Medicine Office of Research is seeking nominations from interested candidates.
The CERC program aims to support world-renowned researchers and their teams to establish ambitious research programs at Canadian universities. The Faculty of Medicine has been invited to submit up to three nominees. Nominees must be full professors or associate professors expected to be promoted to full professor within one or two years of the nomination.
Interested applicants must complete the registration form by 5pm on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, with preliminary nominations due to the Faculty of Medicine Office of Research by March 19.

The Seminar Series Fund
The purpose of the fund is to provide secondary support for interdisciplinary seminars of educational value with up to $1,500 per seminar series. Only one application per UBC Faculty of Medicine department, centre/institute or school will be accepted. If you’re currently seeking additional funding and your seminar qualifies under these criteria, please visit the Seminar Series Fund page and submit your application online by March 5, 11:59PM.
Call for submissions - UBC Medical Journal
The UBC Medical Journal is looking for faculty contributions to the upcoming Spring 2025 edition of the UBCMJ. The issue theme is “Accessibility in Medicine”, and editors are seeking feature articles expressing your opinions and knowledge in ~1,000 words.
