The National Sanitarium Association (NSA): Scholars Program NEW

MSHRBC: Health Research BC-Mitacs Industry-Based Program NEW
Description: In partnership with national research organization Mitacs, Health Research BC is offering paid internships for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. They will receive guidance from expert mentors at BC-based life sciences companies and gain hands-on business skills, enabling them to advance their knowledge to solve complex health challenges and improve the health of British Columbians.

The prizes, each with a value of $50,000, are awarded to experts who demonstrate research excellence and innovation in the areas of cancer, brain disorders, and heart disorders. | Deadline: February 28, 2024

Canadian Academy of Health Sciences Fellowship

The Canadian Academy of Health Sciences recognizes individuals of great accomplishment and achievement in the academic health sciences in Canada.  Election to fellowship in the Academy is considered one of the highest honours for individuals in the Canadian health sciences community and carries with it a covenant to serve the Academy and the future well-being of the health sciences. 

Three letters of nomination are required. Normally at least one of the nominators is a Fellow; however, CAHS will consider applications where none of the nominators are CAHS Fellows. | Deadline: March 6, 2024

Royal Society of Canada - McLaughlin Medal

The McLaughlin Medal was established in 1978 by the RSC through the generosity of the R. Samuel McLaughlin Foundation to recognize distinguished achievement in medical sciences in Canada. The medal is awarded for important research of sustained excellence in any branch of medical sciences. The gold plated silver medal is awarded every year if there is a suitable candidate. | Deadline: March 15, 2024

Event: Beyond Representation: Celebrating Black Excellence in BC Healthcare NEW
Description: The panel features Aisha Sallad, UBC Midwifery Student Manager; Barbara Sutherland, Director of VCH Coastal and Acute Services; Dr. Oluseyi Malomo, Staff Psychiatrist at Fraser Health and Clinical Instructor at UBC; and Dr. Taru Manyanga, Assistant Professor in the Division of Medical Sciences at UNBC. The panel is moderated by Madison Tardif, REDI Equity Advisor at UBC, and Oluwaseun Ajaja, Regional Manager for Anti-Racism at VCH. During this session, the panelists will share their experiences navigating the healthcare work environment and emphasize the importance of recognizing and promoting Black excellence in health care.

Event: AI Meets Ethics: Whose Ethics Inform That Code? End-User Perspective on Embodied Health Technology
Description: In this presentation, Dr. Robillard will provide an overview of embodied technologies such as social robots, from research prototypes to devices on the market, and will review their brain health-related applications for children, adults and older adults. She will showcase the latest evidence around the impact of social robot use in the context of brain health and illness, and discuss key ethical implications surrounding their use. Dr. Robillard will review some of the main challenges in social robot research, and will share insights about the development of devices that are aligned with end-user ethics and emotions.

Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine & UBC Faculty of Medicine Postdoctoral Exchange Travel Award
This travel award offers a unique opportunity for postdoctoral fellows from NTU LKCMedicine and UBC Faculty of Medicine to travel to the host institution and engage in collaborative research for a period of 4 to 6 months. We hope this award will promote the co-development of research capabilities and foster long-lasting collaborations between the institutions.
