Canadian Institutes of Health Research: Catalyst Grant: Analysis of Canadian Longitudinal Study in Aging (CLSA) Data 
Description: Aims to find ways to improve the health of Canadians by better understanding the aging process and the factors that shape the way we age.

UBC: CLL Grand Challenge NEW
Description: invites applicants to envision how BC and Canada can respond and adapt to climate emergency and the role that UBC can play in realizing a sustainable future in our communities, cities and regions. The CLL Grand Challenge 2023 will provide seed funding of up to $250,000 each for two living lab projects based at UBC Vancouver and up to $100,000 for one living lab project based at UBC Okanagan.

Alzheimer's Drug Discovery Foundation: Drug Development Program NEW 
Description: supports investigational new drug (IND)-enabling studies (or the international equivalent) and early-phase clinical trials that test promising pharmacological interventions and devices for Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and related dementias. Both disease-modifying and symptomatic agents will be considered.
Amount: up to $5,000,000

Alzheimer's Drug Discovery Foundation: Neuroimaging and CSF Biomarker Program NEW 
Description: to further develop and validate established biomarkers for which there is a clear clinical need in Alzheimer's disease and related dementias. This RFP prioritizes biomarkers with a defined context of use, a clear advantage over other relevant biomarkers, and a path to commercialization and/or clinical use.
Amount: up to $600,000
Duration: 12 months

Alzheimer's Drug Discovery Foundation: Prevention Program NEW 
Description: seeks to support studies of cognitive symptoms due to health conditions, comparative effectiveness research, and epidemiological studies that probe whether the use or choice of drugs alters the risk for dementia or cognitive decline.

France Canada Research Fund (FCRF): New Research Collaboration Program NEW
Description: promotes partnerships between researchers in Canada and France, open to every field of expertise and promotes interdisciplinary projects.  The program provides funding for new scientific projects jointly developed by French and Canadian teams that have never worked together before. Royal Society of Canada College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists 

The Royal Society of Canada (RSC) College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists is Canada’s first national system of multidisciplinary recognition for the emerging generation of Canadian intellectual leadership. Members of the College are Canadians and Permanent Residents who, at an early stage of their career, have demonstrated a high level of achievement. The criteria for election is excellence, and membership is for seven years. 

Candidates must be no more than 15 years from the conferral of the PhD or equivalent qualification. For the cohort of 2024 (due Dec 2023), a candidate must have received their PhD or equivalent no earlier than January 1, 2009. Royal Society of Canada Fellows

Royal Society of Canada (RSC) Fellows are those with exceptional and original publications, intellectual achievements, and creative activities, with achievements in the arts, humanities, social sciences, or sciences. Bodossaki Excellence Award NEW

More specifically, the purpose of the Bodossaki Excellence Award is to make known to the wider public internationally acclaimed Greek scientists who are active in the fields of (a) Physical Sciences and Mathematics; (b) Technological Sciences; (c) Biomedical Sciences; and (d) Social Sciences. In principle, two (2) Excellence Awards are awarded in every two-year “cycle”, each accompanied by a cash prize of one hundred thousand euros (€100,000). | Nomination deadline: September 30

Killam Accelerator Research Fellowship 
The Faculty of Medicine has launched an internal selection process to nominate up to 2 candidates for the Killam Accelerator Research Fellowship, offered by the UBC VP Research and International office. The award includes a one-time research allowance of $50,000, and the successful recipient's academic unit will receive $60,000 over 2 years to help offset teaching load. | Internal nomination deadline: Oct 24

Killam Postdoctoral Fellow Research Prize NEW

Designed to support research collaboration across UBC in Vancouver and the Okanagan by providing funding to: initiate new, or strengthen existing research collaborations; enable travel to access unique infrastructure/core facilities at each location or to hold research meetings; support travel, per diems, and accommodations for UBC researchers.

Two prizes in the amount of $5,000 each will be awarded to full-time Postdoctoral Fellows at UBC in recognition of outstanding research and scholarly contributions while at UBC. All fields of research are included.

Nomination packages must be submitted to us at med.gradpostdoc@ubc.ca by the internal deadline of Thursday, November 2, 2023, at 5:00 PM PST. The Faculty of Medicine will adjudicate the nominations and send two nominees to the G+PS Postdoctoral Fellows Office by December 6, 2023.
