Royal-Mach-Gaensslen Prize for Mental Health Research 

The prestigious Royal-Mach-Gaensslen Prize for Mental Health Research is awarded each year to an outstanding rising star researcher in the field of mental health, to recognize, encourage and support them as they pursue their research interests and goals. The annual national prize provides $100,000 in funding to Canadian early-career researchers (45 years or younger) with a demonstrated track record in research; excellence in scientific rigor, innovative thinking, imagination and originality; and a clear ability to work in partnership with other disciplines and/or research teams external to the institution with which they are affiliated. | Deadline: July 15, 2024

Schmidt Science Polymaths NEW

The Schmidt Science Polymath program aims to encourage the best “polymath” scientists to expand their research portfolios by exploring a substantive disciplinary or methodological shift soon after achieving tenure. The program will offer long-term research support to professors who have recently achieved tenure or an equivalent status (within the past three calendar years) with remarkable track records and highly promising futures. Each professor will be awarded $500,000 per year, paid through their institution, for up to five years to help support a research group through talent, such as three to four students or postdocs, and resources. | UBC internal deadline: July 24, 2024

Lewis S. Rosenstiel Award for Distinguished Work in Basic Medical Research NEW

The Lewis S. Rosenstiel Award for Distinguished Work in Basic Medical Research was established in 1971 as an expression of the conviction that educational institutions have an important role to play in the encouragement and development of basic science as it applies to medicine.

Awards are given to scientists for recent discoveries of particular originality and importance to basic medical research. A cash prize and a medallion accompanies each award. | Deadline: August 31, 2024
