UBC Health: Health After 2020 Call for Proposals
Description: Supports innovation in knowledge translation, providing funding to teams to support research collaborations and capacity building in knowledge translation. Researchers at UBCV and UBCO are invited to submit a proposal for projects that utilize creative and innovative knowledge translation methods. 
Amount: $10,000
Duration: 12 months
Eligibility: Faculty

France Canada Research Fund (FCRF): New Research Collaboration Program
Description: promotes partnerships between researchers in Canada and France, open to every field of expertise and promotes interdisciplinary projects.  The program provides funding for new scientific projects jointly developed by French and Canadian teams that have never worked together before. To be considered for UBC’s internal selection, researchers must email their applications directly to UBC’s FCRF correspondent, Heather Frost (heather.frost@ubc.ca), as a single PDF.
Amount: up to $15,000

Plastic Surgery Foundation: Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Research Grant NEW
Description: One-year pilot projects will be awarded to support plastic surgeons pursuing research in aesthetic/cosmetic plastic surgery.
Amount: $25,000

Myocarditis Foundation: Research Grants NEW
Description: Supports career development and training of physician-scientists in myocarditis research.

Description: NFRF's Exploration Stream seeks to inspire innovative projects not easily supported through funding opportunities currently offered by the Tri-Agencies.

American Society of Nephrology: Ben J. Lipps Research Fellowship NEW
Description: To fund nephrology fellows to conduct original, meritorious research projects. This program will foster the training of fellows, under the direction of a sponsor, who are highly motivated to make contributions to the understanding of kidney biology and disease. This Fellowship serves to establish the beginnings of an independent career.
Amount: $100,000
Duration: 2 years

American Society of Nephrology: Pre-Doctoral Fellowship NEW
Description: Supports PhD students under the direction of a sponsor in support of original research on any aspect of the entire spectrum of kidney biology and disease.

Autism Science Foundation: 2024 Pre- and Postdoctoral Training Awards NEW
Description: Supports trainees interested in pursuing careers in basic and clinical research relevant to autism spectrum disorders.

UBC & SFU: Implementation Science Institute 
Description: The implementation science (IS) institute is a two-year training program targeted towards early to mid-career health researchers (from wide range of health-related topics and disciplines in psychology, urban planning, gerontology, biomedical engineering, health geography, health education and promotion, etc) who are interested in or embarking on projects that encompass the science of implementation.

UBC Centre for Health Education Scholarship: Master of Health Professions Education (MHPE) Canada & Clinical Educator Fellowship Program
Description: The MHPE is a two-year, part-time, internationally recognized, research degree program that is primarily distance-based with annual, three week courses that are delivered on-site. The Clinical Educator Fellowship Program is designed for those interested in developing an academic career as a Clinical Educator and boasts many education leaders as active alumni.

Call for Nominations

NSERC: Brockhouse Canada Prize for Interdisciplinary Research in Science and Engineering 

This prize recognizes outstanding Canadian teams of researchers from different disciplines who have combined their expertise to produce achievements of outstanding international significance in the natural sciences and engineering in the last six years. The prize is accompanied by a team research grant of up to $250,000, which may be used to support the direct costs of university-based research and/or the enhancement of research facilities. | Deadline: November 28

Clinical Trials BC Awards 2024

These awards honour individuals and organizations who have made significant contributions to strengthening the BC clinical trials ecosystem. Award recipients exemplify excellence in leadership, advocacy for clinical trials, and outstanding service and support to advance clinical trials research and improve the health of people across British Columbia.

Killam Teaching Prizes 2024

UBC Killam Teaching Prizes are UBC’s most prestigious teaching awards. The UBC Killam Teaching Prizes recognize excellence in teaching in the medical and science undergraduate programs, residency programs, school and graduate programs within the Faculty of Medicine. King Faisal Prize in Medicine 2024

The King Faisal Prize (KFP) recognizes the outstanding works of individuals and institutions in five major categories: Service to Islam, Islamic Studies, Arabic Language and Literature, Medicine, and Science. Its aim is to benefit Muslims in their present and future, inspire them to participate in all aspects of civilization, as well as enrich human knowledge and develop mankind. KFP laureates are evaluated only based on merit and their works are meticulously examined by specialized selection committees. The strict selection procedure meets international standards, and many of the laureates who have been awarded the prize went on to receive other prestigious prizes, such as the Nobel Prize. | FoM internal nomination deadline: March 15, 2024
