UBC Faculty of Medicine: 2023 Seminar Series Fund
Description: The purpose of the fund is to provide secondary support for interdisciplinary seminars of educational value with up to $1,500 per seminar series. Only one application per UBC Faculty of Medicine department, centre/institute or school will be accepted. If you’re currently seeking additional funding and your seminar qualifies under these criteria, please visit the Seminar Series Fund page and submit your application online by August 28th, 2023.

Lewis S. Rosenstiel Award for Distinguished Work in Basic Medical Research
The Lewis S. Rosenstiel Award for Distinguished Work in Basic Medical Research was established in 1971 as an expression of the conviction that educational institutions have an important role to play in the encouragement and development of basic science as it applies to medicine.
Awards are given to scientists for recent discoveries of particular originality and importance to basic medical research. A cash prize and a medallion accompanies each award. | Sponsor deadline: August 31
Royal Society of Canada College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists NEW
The Royal Society of Canada (RSC) College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists is Canada’s first national system of multidisciplinary recognition for the emerging generation of Canadian intellectual leadership. Members of the College are Canadians and Permanent Residents who, at an early stage of their career, have demonstrated a high level of achievement. The criteria for election is excellence, and membership is for seven years.
Candidates must be no more than 15 years from the conferral of the PhD or equivalent qualification. For the cohort of 2024 (due Dec 2023), a candidate must have received their PhD or equivalent no earlier than January 1, 2009. Killam Accelerator Research Fellowship NEW
The Faculty of Medicine has launched an internal selection process to nominate up to 2 candidates for the Killam Accelerator Research Fellowship, offered by the UBC VP Research and International office. The award includes a one-time research allowance of $50,000, and the successful recipient's academic unit will receive $60,000 over 2 years to help offset teaching load. | Internal nomination deadline: Oct 24
