MSHRBC: Health Research BC-Mitacs Industry-Based Program
Description: In partnership with national research organization Mitacs, Health Research BC is offering paid internships for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. They will receive guidance from expert mentors at BC-based life sciences companies and gain hands-on business skills, enabling them to advance their knowledge to solve complex health challenges and improve the health of British Columbians.
Amount: Accelerate: up to $45,000/year; Elevate: up to $64,500/year

Royal Society of Canada - McLaughlin Medal

The McLaughlin Medal was established in 1978 by the RSC through the generosity of the R. Samuel McLaughlin Foundation to recognize distinguished achievement in medical sciences in Canada. The medal is awarded for important research of sustained excellence in any branch of medical sciences. The gold plated silver medal is awarded every year if there is a suitable candidate. | Deadline: March 15, 2024

Breakthrough Prize NEW

The Breakthrough Prize, recognized as the world’s largest science prize, honors top scientists, with three prizes in Life Sciences, one in Fundamental Physics and one in Mathematics. Each prize comes with a $3 million award. | Deadline: April 1, 2024

VinFuture Prize NEW

The VinFuture Prize is set up to honor breakthrough scientific research and technological innovations that create meaningful change in the everyday lives of millions of people. The Prize aims to recognize exceptional inventors and researchers from global academic universities, research labs, and industry.

A Grand Prize of US$ 3 million, awarded annually for breakthrough research and technological innovations that positively improve the quality of human life, and create a more equitable and sustainable world for future generations. And three additional Special Prizes of US $500,000 each with a focus on promoting diversity, equity, and new fields of study will also be awarded annually to:

  1. Innovators from Developing Countries;
  2. Female Innovators; and
  3. Innovators with Outstanding Achievements in Emerging Fields.
