Description: UBC Faculty of Medicine has partnered with the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore to build a global coalition to accelerate research in the areas of healthy aging, brain health, and precision oncology.

Sloan Research Fellowships

The Sloan Research Fellowship Program provides two-year, $75,000 fellowships to early career researchers in recognition of distinguished performance and a unique potential to make substantial contributions to their field. Canada Gairdner Awards 

The Canada Gairdner Awards recognize and celebrate the work of the world’s best biomedical researchers. Over the past 53 years, Gairdner has gained a superb international reputation for its early recognition of medical breakthroughs that have changed the way medicine is practiced. | Deadline: October 1, 2024

Charles A. McDowell Award 

The award, consisting of a medal and a certificate, will be made to an outstanding early career member of the faculty of UBC who has demonstrated excellence in pure or applied scientific research. | Deadline: November 15, 2024

Jacob Biely Faculty Research Prize 

The prize, comprised of $3,000 and a certificate, is awarded annually to a full-time tenure-stream UBC faculty member in recognition of a distinguished record of research that has contributed substantially to UBC’s stature as a leading research institution.  | Deadline: November 15, 2024

Killam Faculty Research Prizes 

Established in 1986, ten UBC Killam Research Prizes are awarded annually to top campus researchers with funds provided annually from the Izaak Walton Killam Memorial Fund for Advanced Studies established through a bequest from the late Dorothy J. Killam. The award recognizes outstanding research and scholarly contributions. | Deadline: November 15, 2024

President's Award for Public Education through Media 

The award, which includes a $3,000 honorarium and a certificate, recognizes and encourages such contributions, including print, broadcast, and online media interviews and expert commentary, as valuable means to foster greater public dialogue and understanding. | Deadline: November 15, 2024

Description: The event will feature welcoming messages from UBC and FoM leadership, and information on relevant graduate student resources at FoM and UBC followed by a Q&A session with the current graduate students.

UBC BC Diabetes Research Network Type 2 Diabetes Spark Innovation Challenge 2024 NEW 
Description: Successful proposals from the Challenge will be invited to present at this special event in Kelowna BC. All researchers, clinicians, trainees, staff and community partners are welcome to attend- registration is free. The pitch event is similar to CBC’s “Dragons Den” allowing for live presentations to a panel of judges.
