With the recent UBC announcement that the majority of instruction will be delivered in-person from February 7 until the end of Winter Session, Term 2, we have compiled some resources to support you during this transition back to campus.

Precedents Archive for Scholarly Speaking

Help familiarize students with the various genres of academic speaking with the Precedents Archive for Scholarly Speaking (PASS). It features video recordings of model student presentations, student guides, and instructor resources to introduce undergraduate students to the key rhetorical moves scholars make when sharing their research.

Teaching Indigenous language revitalization over Zoom

In this teaching reflection, Maya Daurio and Dr. Mark Turin from UBC Anthropology considered some of the unanticipated opportunities for deeper engagement that the pivot to online teaching provided as they planned and delivered an introductory course on Indigenous language documentation, conservation, and revitalization in the fall of 2020.

Arts ISIT invites you to share your teaching and learning success story with UBC Arts colleagues for our instructor-led workshop series.

We hope to showcase experiences from across the faculty that relate to successful teaching and learning practices. Topics include teaching remotely, transitioning back to teaching on campus, or activities and assignments that students enjoy and have found engaging. Submit your story to arts.learningdesigners@ubc.ca. This call for submissions is open on a rolling basis.
