UBC Open Access Fund for Humanities and Social Sciences Research
Faculty authors can apply to the new UBC Open Access Fund for Humanities and Social Sciences Research to cover associated fees of publishing in open access journals and books. Applications now open

Research Facility Support Grants
Funding for operations, maintenance, replacement, repairs or upgrades of equipment currently used in UBC shared facilities to support research at UBC Vancouver or affiliated hospital sites. This year’s competition includes consideration for additional costs related to research curtailment/resumption in response to COVID-19. Application deadline Sept. 24

Campus as a Living Lab Fund Competition
Seed funding to support innovation projects on the Vancouver campus that address strategic sustainability priorities and embody the principles of a living lab. NOI deadline Sept. 15, full proposal deadline Nov. 15

Innovation UBC Venture Idea Competition–Physical Sciences
UBC researchers with an idea for a start-up based on their UBC research in the physical sciences are invited to enter the second edition of Innovation UBC’s venture idea competition. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about a wide range of venture creation topics, as well as the chance to win cash prizes and start-up services. Entrants are expected to attend the educational workshops, which begin Sept. 23.

Strengthening pandemic preparedness in long-term care
New funding to support evidence-informed implementation of a suite of practice interventions and policy options within and across long-term care and retirement homes in Canada. Interested applicants should attend an info webinar on September 9. NOI deadline Sept. 14, Full application deadline Sept. 30.  
 
CIHR–Fall 2020 Observer Program
Observe a peer review committee to help prepare for future grant submissions
Early-career researchers are encouraged to apply to observe the Project Grant competition peer-review committee and gain valuable insights into the review process. Application deadline Sept. 21  
 
WorkSafe BC–Impacts of COVID–19 Call for Proposals
Workplace impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic
Support available for research projects to address both direct and indirect impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic unique to occupational health and safety, injured or ill worker recovery, and safe and sustainable return-to- or stay-at-work. Full application deadline Oct. 31

The Tŝilhqot’in Nation and UBC sign MOU and Indigenous Knowledge Protocol Agreement to Strengthen Collaborative Research Partnerships
The MOU and agreement are a first between UBC and the Tŝilhqot’in Nation and set a path forward for collaboration, cooperation and partnership grounded in respect for the Indigenous Rights of the Tŝilhqot’in Nation.

UBC Researchers Awarded Funding From Federal Agencies
Forty-one projects at UBC received support through CFI’s John R. Evans Leaders Fund while thirty-five projects led by UBC researchers were awarded SSHRC Insight Development Grants.
