Gain Insight, Mentorship on Peer-Review Processes
The Reviewer in Training Program allows early-career researchers to receive mentorship and participate directly in the peer-review process of the Project Grant Program. Note the new eligibility considerations due to COVID-19. Contact Yvonne Ng, ORS, with letters signed by dept. head. Apply by Feb. 26.
 

Mental Health Research Canada, MSFHR & MCFD

Investigate Mental-Health Impacts of COVID-19 on Families Who Care for Children with Special Needs
Funding available to advance the understanding of the pandemic’s impact on the mental health of caregivers and families of children/youth with special needs, and evidence-based approaches to mitigate these impacts. Apply by Feb. 28.

Institutional Research News

New Faculty Research Advisors Announced
UBC faculty members Drs. Purang Abolmaesumi (NSERC), Liisa Galea (CIHR) and Lisa Sundstrom (SSHRC) will provide strategic advice and leadership regarding research funding for both campuses. Dr. Leonard Foster continues to serve as the advisor for CFI.

UBC Appoints Six New University Killam Professors
Drs. Janice Eng, Tina Loo, Bonny Norton, Dolph Schluter, Rashid Sumaila and Dominique Weis received the highest honour the university confers on faculty members this January.

UBC Researchers Receive Funds for Patient-Care Research, Commercialization
Twelve researchers received funding through two competitions administered by the Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research.
