Research Seminar Series - Understanding Pain Through a Multi-Dimensional Lens
June 7 at 12:00 pm PST

What is pain? What affects our perception of pain? Join us on June 7th with our speakers Dr. Kenneth Craig, the Director of the BC Pain Research Network and Professor Emeritus of Psychology at UBC, and Nicole Bailey, a graduate research assistant at the Kramer lab at ICORD. In this session, we will explore the psychological, social, and biological dimensions of pain, as well as current research studying the interactions of stress and pain.

Creative Collective: Featured Creator of the Month - Doug Johnson

Doug was born in Prince Albert and grew up in Saskatchewan. He first became interested in photography when his older brother, Don, gave him a small Kodak camera when he was 14. When they were kids, it was expensive to get film developed and his mother struggled financially to support this hobby.

After Stroke BC - Ask the Expert: Practical Ways to Boost your Wellbeing
Monday, May 29, 2023 10:00 am-11:00 am PDT

This talk will look at mental health related to anxiety and depression and different approaches to address these concerns. It will cover signs and symptoms to be on the lookout for and when you may need to pay more attention to addressing these problems. A range of interventions, from seeking professional help to accessing various resources in your community to promote well-being that are easy to access and utilize will be explored.
The speaker, Dr. Carrie Heilbron, Ph.D., C.Psych. is a registered psychologist with areas of competency in rehabilitation, clinical, and counselling psychology, as designated by the College of Psychologists of Ontario. She is the Chief Psychologist, Rehabilitation and Clinical Services, in the Employment Services division of March of Dimes Canada.
